Citizen Review Panels

Each year, United Way raises millions of dollars during its annual campaign and then with the help of Citizen Review Panels, invests those dollars into local programs that focus on improving the community in the areas of education, health and financial stability.

Through our Citizen Review Panel process, volunteers review funding requests – including narratives, budgets, audited financial statements and measurable outcomes. These volunteers also visit the programs and interview key staff members, clients and Board members. It is the findings and recommendations of these volunteers that determine which local programs will receive United Way funding for the upcoming year.
