COMMUNITY IMPACT GRANTS

As part of United Way of Martin County's total impact in the community, we provided 44 Community Impact Grants to 32 local nonprofit agencies this year. 

Crisis Hotline
211 HelpLine provides telephone counseling, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and comprehensive information and referral services, 24 hours a day 7 days per week to individuals in need of support.

Family Nurse Navigator
Alzheimer’s Community Care’s (ACC) Family Nurse Navigator program provides services and resources for families living with Alzheimer's disease to enable them to care for their loved one at home with dignity and safety throughout the disease progression.

Specialized Day Care Center
Alzheimer’s Community Care’s Specialized Alzheimer’s Care and Service Centers provide therapeutic care for patients and much-needed respite for family caregivers.

ABLE Program
Provides education and training on employable skills including behavioral, communication, computer and other related vocational skills to persons with disabilities who have no other funding source for services.

Youth After School Program
After-school and camp opportunities for youth ages 3 to 22 years of age with developmental disabilities.

Beyond Summer Slide Program
This program was created to combat the summer slide and sharpen those rusty skills and forgotten knowledge that often challenge both teachers and students every school year. The program consists of weekly literacy instruction for K-3rd grade.

Butterflies VPK Program
This program gives children a jumpstart by preparing them for school and enhancing their pre-reading, pre-math, language and social skills and is 100% tuition-free for all enrolled students.

Clothing Program
Provides at no cost, gently used clothing, new underwear and socks, and a voucher towards the cost of new school shoes.

Children and Family Counseling
Provides Masters-level counselors, some multi-lingual, for children, adults, couples and families, seen as individuals or in groups, on a sliding scale fee.

Children's Medical Program 
Pays for healthcare-related services for children from families at or below the poverty level who have no health insurance and/or are underinsured.

Children & Families in Need of Services
Providing support for Martin County children and families based at the WaveCrest Shelter, which is the only runaway/homeless shelter for youth in the Treasure Coast area.

Meals on Wheels
Preventing hunger through the provision of home-delivered meals to seniors identified as being homebound with limited access to nutritionally sound meals.

Adult Day Health Program
Core services that enable seniors in Martin County to maintain independence by delaying institutional placement and providing respite services to their caregivers' families.

Youth Substance Abuse Program
This program is a residential substance abuse treatment program that is dedicated to serving males and females ages 13 through 18 with their addiction.

Medical Services and Case Management
Promote the health of individuals with epilepsy by providing affordable or no-cost neurological care including access to antiepileptic medications such as AEDs, and adjunct services such as blood tests and neuroimaging studies.

Stopping Child Abuse Before It Happens Program
This program brings together a team of specially trained professionals who evaluate and investigate cases of child abuse to help children and their families.

Baby Steps
Individualized home-based and group parenting education, developmental play instruction, behavioral support, infant massage instruction, baby calming techniques, and early brain development education.

Community Living
Provides adults with significant disabilities learning experiences in community environments by providing work and volunteer opportunities, educational classes, leisure, recreational and cultural activities.

Shelter Literacy Program
Provides a comprehensive approach to improve academic proficiency for abused and neglected children in Martin County residing at the Hibiscus Children's Shelter in Jensen Beach.

Increasing School Readiness Program
Enhances curriculums to ensure our students enter Kindergarten ready to succeed in school and life. The enhanced curriculum also focuses on developing all other aspects of the child’s development beyond the academic.

Surviving Social Situations Camp
Provides scholarships and peer support for summer camp students and targets the development of social & executive function skills for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related disabilities using a thematic approach.

Parent Outreach Program
Provides parenting classes, garden projects and children’s wellness programs for parents and students in the Indiantown community.

Golden Gate and Jensen Beach Centers for Enrichment
Provides empowering life skills trainings, vocational workshops and certifications all provided at no cost to the participants. Learning opportunities will include, but not be limited to: GED, ESL and Adult Literacy - The Martin County Library System; Career choice and training opportunities - Indian River State College; Warehousing, Safe food handling, and Merchandising – House of Hope; Agriculture – IFAS( Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences/Univ. of Florida)  & House of Hope; Health and Nutrition - MC Health Dept.

Client Choice Pantry
Client Choice food pantries in Hobe Sound, Stuart, Jensen Beach, & Indiantown. Nutritious options are offered to food-insecure residents and include fresh fruits, produce, dairy products, deli products, meat, non-perishable food, bread, & baked goods

Project HOPE (Helping Others Progress through Empowerment) assists qualified Martin County residents with rent/mortgage, utilities, prescriptions, medical co-pays, and other household or transportation expenses.

Preparing for the World of Work
This program is targeting high school students with a six multi-session program in personal finance, career, job soft skills, and more.

Building Lives, Protecting the Community    
Seeks to reduce crime, recidivism, and assist low-income individuals who come in contact with the Treasure Coast courts as a consequence of criminal behavior or a dependency action.

Little Lights Dentistry
Provides a dental practice for children aged 12 months to 18 yrs, including comprehensive treatment plans, fillings and cleanings, as well as educational and nutritional information for both child and caregivers.

Client Services Program
The program is a daytime resource center for the homeless and indigent population, providing a broad spectrum of basic services and assistance to meet their needs.

Healthy Start Services    
A collaborative effort of six agencies/funders to provide prenatal care and labor/delivery management services to Martin County's uninsured pregnant women and their newborns, as well as wrap-around services to program clients, including: childbirth education, nutrition counseling, emergency transportation, and more.

Getting Ready for Kindergarten 
Provide summer support for incoming Kindergarten students in Indiantown to help ensure students are achieving school readiness.

Work Readiness Program
Provides pregnant women at the shelter and in the community with education and work experience opportunities through related vocational certification courses, volunteering and internships needed to secure and maintain employment to enable them to provide for themselves and their baby.

Pre- Apprenticeship Certification Program
Pre-Apprenticeship Certification Program in the trades arena that allows teens access to a career pathway with a livable wage.

Substance Abuse Program
Intensive 14-week sessions combining occupational skill development, substance abuse treatment, group and individual mental health therapy, mentoring and family functional treatment. Upon successful treatment, members are then given the opportunity to participate in our long-term After Care program.

Transportation/Employment Services
Transportation coalition program to provide job seekers or currently employed residents with opportunities for employment and promotions. Project LIFT provides a 14-week Intensive outpatient substance abuse program coupled with vocational skills training for young men and women in Martin County. One of the byproducts of the Project LIFT experience is a restored or repaired vehicle.

Domestic Violence Shelter
Provides comprehensive programming to victims of domestic violence and their children to break the intergenerational cycle of abuse and ensure victims' safety while encouraging maximum self-sufficiency.

Provides crucial services needed to keep families healthy and in their homes such as assistance with rent, utility and prescriptions for families/individuals in crisis.

Compassion House    
Provides shelter, food, clothing and other necessities to homeless women and women with children while they work to transition to stable housing.

Supporting our Staff and Students through mental health and wellness (SOS)
Providing therapeutic services for the under and uninsured in Martin County schools. In addition, the program will now be available to all who qualify for assistance with mental health services.

Survivor Health Impact Pathways (SHIP) Services
This program provides wrap-around mental health support for youth and adults in Martin County who have experienced sexual trauma.

Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Program
This program will work with private childcare centers’ staff to foster the social and emotional development of young children from birth to 5.

Willoughby Learning Center Targeted Case Management
This program will provide wrap-around services for the students at Willoughby Learning Center.

YES Program
Provides individual, family, and group services to adolescents to prevent substance use by those at-risk for use and to eliminate substance use by adolescents who have already used substances. The YES Program has recently added the additional service of individual and group therapy for youth with eating disorders.

Youth Sport Scholarships
This grant is to help those student-athletes who are unable to participate in Sporting Activities due to financial constraints.  By eliminating financial barriers, all children will have the opportunity to stay active and be a part of a team environment.
